Eventchaser and RazorGator gave Eddy and me the opportunity to expand our horizons and see the wonder of the Metropolitan Opera House in New York City.

Metropolitan Opera tickets are now on sale at RazorGator.

Every year, the Metropolitan puts forth a terrific lineup with opera classics and new opera favorites, but during the holiday season they put together a special presentation that the whole family can enjoy.

For the 2009 holiday season, the opera house brought to life the Brothers Grimm fairy tale Hansel and Gretel (played by Miah Persson and Angelika Kirchschlager) — two siblings who get lost in some wicked woods and are captured by an evil child-eating witch. The show runs for approximately 2 hrs and 15 minutes. The Opera is sung in English but the opera house has subtitles in English, Spanish and German.

I have been to the Metropolitan opera house for several fantastic operas but never for the holiday special and I was pleasantly surprised. The family holiday show really is a production for the family. The songs, storyline, costumes and stage are more whimsical and bring to life the fairy tale that is Hansel and Gretel. All the actors were very talented but Philip Langridge shines as the Witch. Metropolitan Opera House is a beautiful building that has an old time feel with no bad seat because of the set up of the stage.

Unfortunately the holiday show has ended, but the opera house is currently presenting Carmen and Turandot. If you are not in the New York City area, the opera house has fantastic programs on Sirius XM and Live in HD so you can experience the wonders of the opera from anywhere.

The Metropolitan Opera House at Lincoln Center Information
Located on the Upper West Side of Manhattan in New York City, between West 62nd and 65th Streets and Columbus and Amsterdam Avenues.

Directions
Since this is NYC, I would highly recommend you take public transportation to get to the Met.

Subway: Take the No. 1 train to 66th Street (Lincoln Center) Station.

Bus: Take the M5, M7, M10, M11, M20, M66, M104 or BxM2 lines.
Lincoln Center is under construction so if you are driving in check the Lincoln Center website for general information. You may call Lincoln Center’s customer service at 212-546-2656 for more details.

Parking: The Lincoln Center “park and lock” parking garage is located underneath Lincoln Center. It is open to the public 24 hours a day. The entrances are on West 65th Street (between Columbus and Amsterdam Avenues) and West 62nd Street (between Columbus and Amsterdam Avenues). For more information, please call 1-877-909-PARK. To make parking reservations within three weeks of a performance date, call Center charge at 212-721-6500.

Miscellaneous Tips

For evening performances people dress up. I am not saying run out for a ball gown or tux, but black slacks and a nice top will ensure that you won’t feel silly. Matinee performances are a mixed bag. Some were in dress clothes while some were in jeans.

The theater and parking is wheelchair accessible.

On matinee days, the Grand Tier Restaurant will be open for post-performance lunch.

Grand Tier Restaurant not open? Luckily you are in New York City where within walking distance you will find Italian, Chinese, Japanese, American etc.

Hotels and accommodations? Check out your favorite travel site to find the best hotel for your needs. But be prepared, most “starred” hotels start around $300 a night.

No picture taking is allowed at the Opera House. Eddy and I were scolded for taking the above pictures but anything for the Eventchaser cause!

If you love the arts and theater, pick up your opera tickets today for an experience that brings the art of music to life.

FIFA World Cup Location
In Amsterdam, Holland 1928 the FIFA congress gathered officially decided to organize a World Cup tournament. It was not until 1930 that the very first FIFA World Cup took place. The original World Cup tournament took place in Montevideo, Uruguay. Fun Fact: the first goal was made by a French soccer player named Lucien Laurent.

FIFA World Cup – Venue Map

In order to qualify for the World Cup, teams must hail from certain zones around the globe. Teams from Europe, North America, Central America, Africa, Asia, South America, Oceania, Central America and the Caribbean are involved in qualification matches. Often the World Cup qualifications happen years before the official tournament. Over 30 teams are involved in the FIFA World Cup and there is nothing more exciting than watching your favorite teams battle it out on the soccer field.

Final Draw
On December 4th, 2009 in Cape Town, Africa a FIFA drawing took place to determine which teams would be matched up together. The drawings are completely random and chosen by the FIFA committee. Below you will find a breakdown of the groups.

Group A
My teenage daughter has gotten more and more into music the last few years. It was only natural that she would start hounding me to let her go to concerts. There have been a few concerts that she has wanted to go to but I wanted her first concert to be a great one and I wanted to enjoy it with her. The Glamour Kills Tour was the perfect first concert for her. Thanks to RazorGator, we were able to get some sweet concert tickets!

We brought her dad and her best friend with us for the big night. I knew she would have more fun if she had a friend with. I may be an awesome mom but I am still a mom. The girls were in heaven the whole time. I do not think the night could have been any more perfect.

The Venue: The Rave/Eagles Club in Milwaukee, Wisconsin
The Eagles Club was built in 1926. When it was first built it included a boxing ring with seating, a swimming pool, a high-end restaurant and a bowling alley. It was recognized on the National Register of Historic Places on July 29, 1986. From the outside, the building does not look like much but the inside is amazing.

Today the building is known as The Rave or Eagles Ballroom. It has two names because it houses two great concert stages. The complex has 6 different areas and 5 stages. The Rave has an open feel to it. When I have seen bands there I always enjoyed being able to check out another band playing in The Rave Bar at the same time.

The Eagles Ballroom has a grand feel to it. I have seen many concerts but there is just something about concerts at The Eagles Ballroom. It has an elegant 25,000 square foot dance floor, domed ceiling, and wrap around balcony seating with carved Eagle sculptures and intricate trim on the pillars.

Parking and Directions for The Rave/Eagles Club

The Rave/Eagles Club is located at the corner of 24th Street and Wisconsin Avenue. There is VIP parking available in two lots adjacent to the building. The price varies according to what concert is that night. VIP parking was $25 the night of our show so we had planned on just parking on the street. We arrived there an hour and a half before the show and found that the streets were packed full of people for the show so we paid for VIP parking to save us from a long cold walk.

The Show: Glamour Kills Tour – All Time Low headlining
It was like a sea of screaming teenage girls. Even a half hour before the doors opened the line wrapped around the building and down the street. I had no idea how big this show was going to be. As we entered The Eagles Ballroom we were faced with the decision of where to watch the concert. James was the smart one. He headed straight up the stairs to a balcony. It is all general admission and the only chairs are up in the balconies.

We had a great view of the concert and the wild frenzy of screaming teenage girls. The concert went from 7:15 until after 11pm. I am very glad that we got to sit down comfortably. We did have to guard our seats with our lives though. Anytime someone had to use the bathroom or I moved for a better picture there was a mass of people trying to steal a seat. I have to admit we did have great seats.

The Glamour Kills Tour has four bands; We the Kings, Hey Monday, The Friday Night Boys, and of course All Time Low. Each band played for about an hour. I channeled my inner teenage girl and had an incredible time with my daughter and her best friend. I am very thankful that my daughter has good taste in music so we can enjoy stuff together.

All of the bands commented that they had never played in front of that many people before. It really seemed to energize all of the bands. They kept thanking the audience and saying that it was the best show of the tour. Everyone seemed to feel the energy which made the concert even more amazing.
The first three bands were really good but All Time Low blew the crowd away. I had no idea how many crazed fan girls they had. As soon as they hit the stage bras started flying. As they play one of the band members collects bras on his microphone stand. I do not even know how the thing was able to stand up any longer.

Attractions Near The Rave/Eagles Club
The Rave/Eagles Club is located in an area of Milwaukee that is full of restaurant choices. There is something for every taste and budget. If you arrive in Milwaukee early in the day you can enjoy some of the other fun near the concert. Baseball fans will find that Miller Park is very close by.
In the state of Georgia, the Saturday after Thanksgiving is another day to show what’s known as Clean, Old-Fashioned Hate. This is the rivalry between the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets and the Georgia Bulldogs. Thanks to RazorGator and EventChaser I wound up with Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets tickets to see my alma mater play against the Georgia Bulldogs on this date. It would surely be a close, competitive game, as 5 of the last 6 have been decided by 7 points or less.

Bobby Dodd Stadium Information
Bobby Dodd Stadium at Historic Grant Field

The stadium, which seats 55,000 for football, is located on the east side of the Georgia Tech campus. There is parking various small lots around the Georgia Tech campus, and Atlanta’s rail system, MARTA, is also a good option if you want to avoid traffic (just go to the ‘North Avenue’ station).

Tailgating is permitted in all lots open to visitors on campus, except the parking deck. The largest lot for tailgating is the lot behind Alexander Memorial Coliseum. Lots open early enough to give plenty of time for tailgating and other pre-game festivities before the game.

Originally built in 1913 by members of the Georgia Tech student body, Bobby Dodd Stadium at Historic Grant Field is the oldest on-campus stadium in NCAA Division I-A. The focal point of a 2003 expansion and renovation is the North end zone structure, which seats 15,678 in two levels and also includes 10 luxury suites

If your group is eating before the game, downtown Atlanta has a wide variety of dining choices available. One of the most popular for Georgia Tech football dates is The Varsity, which is known as “The World’s Largest Drive-in Restaurant.” The location at 61 North Avenue is within walking distance of the Georgia Tech campus. It covers two city blocks and can accommodate 600 cars and over 800 people inside. On days when the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets are playing a home game, over 30,000 people visit The Varsity.

The Game
This year’s game was every bit as exciting as last year’s game (that year, Tech scored 33 points in the second half to rally for a 45-42 victory). Game time this year was 8:00 p.m. on Saturday night. The temperature was in the 50’s at kickoff, but dipped into the upper 40’s by the second half — perfect football weather.

As usual, this game was close to the end. The Georgia Tech fans were worried when starting quarterback Josh Nesbit missed about a quarter with an ankle injury, until he returned late in the second quarter.

On their last possession of this game, the Yellow Jackets, who were only down 6 points, moved to Georgia’s 46, converting a fourth-and-1 with 1:53 remaining. Tech’s chance to extend an 8 game winning streak eventually came down to a 4th and 10 with just over a minute left in the game and one time-out left.

On this play QB Nesbitt found Demaryius Thomas alone on the left sideline with room to spare for the first down. The pass hit Thomas in the hands. He dropped it. Georgia only had to run out the clock to preserve a 30-24 victory, while Bulldog fans earned a year of bragging rights until next year’s game.

This weekend is going to be full of college football championship games and I am loving it. This is it! The time has come to watch your favorite teams in the ultimate battle. Winner takes all! The SEC Championship, ACC Championship and Big 12 Championship all take place on December 5th 2009, right around the corner. So, today I am going to fill you in on the details of these big games.

SEC Championship will feature the Florida Gators vs. Alabama Crimson Tide on Saturday, December 5th 2009. The game will be located at the Georgia Dome in Atlanta. The Georgia Dome also happens to be home to the Sugar Bowl and the NFL’s Atlanta Falcons. The SEC Championship is perhaps the most exciting of the championship games this weekend. The winner will secure themselves a place in the premier BCS Championship game in January 2010! I have a feeling its going to be a very exciting game with some close calls. Florida is ranked #1 in the BSC polls, with Alabama right behind them in the #2 spot.

ACC Championship is going to be another epic match up. This time the ACC Championship will see the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets up against the Clemson Tigers. The game is scheduled for Saturday, December 5th 2009 (the same day as the SEC Championship). The game is going to be at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Florida.

Big 12 Championship will feature Texas Longhorns vs. Nebraska Cornhuskers on Saturday, December 5th 2009 at Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, Texas. Experts are predicting it to be a thrilling game. These two teams are an excellent match up and this game should go down in history!

Right now, RazorGator is offering you the chance to win tickets to the 2010 CFB National Championship! Just recently I was given a great opportunity to go and see Imogen Heap in concert thanks to EventChaser. Held at In The Venue in down town Salt Lake City, Utah I was thrilled and a little nervous about attending as it would be my first time seeing her in concert.

Formerly known as Bricks nightclub, In The Venue is located near the heart of Salt Lake City. With the bus station just across the street and access to the city tracks, concert goers have great alternatives for transportation to this small but popular music venue. If you are driving your own car I would suggest getting to the event as early as possible. In The Venue’s parking space is minimal at best and was overflowing by the time my sister-in-law and I had arrived.

If you do arrive decently early you can head down to the Gateway mall for a little pre-concert shopping or for a bite to eat. Personally I would suggest checking out Happy Sumo or Thaifoon both which are located in the Gateway shopping center. My husband and I frequent both places when given the chance and are never disappointed with the food.

Restaurants Near In The Venue
If you are early enough you can also try and catch a movie at the Megaplex 12 Theater, again located in the Gateway shopping center. If you are not looking to do much more than eat and head straight to your concert, the Honk Kong Tea House and Restaurant located right next to In The Venue would be an ideal choice. I have never eaten there myself but after gazing into its windows while we waited in line to get into the concert, I’ve a mind to try it out.

After spending about 10-15 minutes making our way to the entrance, my sister-in-law and I were finally able to step foot into the building. Upon doing so we immediately noticed that the small space in front of the stage was already filled with the early birds waiting for the opening act. As I wasn’t inclined to push my way through just yet we decided to head over to the section of In The Venue that hosts the bar.

We grabbed ourselves two Corona’s at a hefty $4.50 a pop and perched ourselves on the stools to talk and watch people as they entered. Although the prices for the drink weren’t what I would have liked to shell out normally, the bartenders were friendly and prompt with their service.

While we were deciding where to park ourselves afterwards, the opening acts began. I had never heard of Tim Exile or Back Ted-n-Ted before and wasn’t entirely interested in sitting and listening to them at first so we made our way upstairs to the balcony for a breathe of air. By this time In The Venue was already packed and maneuvering our way around was a bit difficult.

For those of you that like a quiet spot to collect yourselves, the balcony is definitely the place to do so. We could not hear one thing from inside even though they had clear vinyl windows situated to watch while you a having a smoke.

We really wanted to find a place on the balconies over-looking the bar and the stage but were hard pressed to find an open spot. In The Venue is standing room only which makes it quite the pain to relax and enjoy fully.

As unfortunate as it was to find ourselves standing in the back of In The Venue near the entrance, we found ourselves enjoying Tim Exile and the atmosphere that he created with his stage presence and funky mix of djing and play on sounds. I couldn’t help but be awed by the scenery on stage; in the middle was a large, white art deco tree that loomed over the instruments and performers while lights twinkled in the backdrops. It perfectly complimented Imogen Heap as she took the stage to perform.

Imogen Heap’s voice was as amazing if not more so than her cd’s. When she came out, the room erupted in applause and my heart jumped a little with excitement. I enjoyed how she talked to the audience between sets and found it pretty amusing that she as much as everyone else was disappointed with how the layout for In The Venue didn’t allow for the greatest concert-going experience. Being forced to stand overtly close to other people and straining to see the stage was in my opinion worth it to see Imogen Heap in concert.

In The Venue may not have been the greatest place to enjoy a concert but overall I had a good time. Thank you Event Chasers and Razorgator for giving me the opportunity and experience of seeing Imogen Heap in concert. One of these days I hope to do so again.

On Wednesday 25, 2009 I was given the chance to go to the Amway Arena in Orlando, Florida to see the Orlando Magic versus the Miami Heat. Seeing that I am not from Orlando and that I have never been to the Amway Arena in the past I did not know what to expect. I have to say that now after visiting the arena; I was quite impressed at the venue and in the experience of seeing an Orlando Magic Game.

Amway Arena Parking
In driving down to the game we got stuck in a quite a bit of traffic that ended up taking us about 10-15 minutes to traverse before getting anywhere close to getting off the exit. I did get to see where the new Amway Arena will be located in 2010 as it is right off the highway and is bigger than life.
When we did show up at the Arena parking was crazy.

Being that we had not been to this venue in the past we did not know where to park. In asking the people directing traffic we did get to where we needed to be eventually (on the 3rd floor of a parking garage). The cost of parking $10.00 was reasonable and was similar to what we paid at our last event chaser event. The walk to the Arena was not far at all, and in walking up the larger outer stairs we were all excited for the game and the experience.

Amway Arena
In entering the Arena I noticed how small the concourse was, there were people everywhere and signage was a bit confusing which led us to walk all the way around the Arena instead of turning the opposite way and finding our seats immediately. I also found that restrooms were not easy to find right away either. One of our parties looked and looked and finally found one after almost walking around the entire venue.

Later, I noticed that they were placed in more inconspicuous places which made it seem that there were fewer that there were at first. The cost of food was reasonable for these types of events and I was amazed at seeing a true foot long hotdog that was larger than the bun itself. The arena was older but this added character to the overall experience.

Our seats were at the top of the Arena. We actually could only have been moved one row higher and we would have been in the highest row in the house. We also were at the far end of the Arena. I am not complaining about tickets, but in seeing this we didn’t know what to expect. As the game began, we were amazed to find that though we were high up, there truly was no bad seat in the house and instead we were able to see the entire game with quite clarity.

I also was amazed to see a packed house for this game. Being that it was the day before Thanksgiving, I did not know what to expect, but it was not a full house. I also was floored to the passion and loyalty that these fans showed their team. We were in a rowdy session and they were on fire for the Orlando Magic the entire game. I was also amazed at the fact that very few of the fans left until the very end of the game unlike other games that I have been to in the past.

Orlando Magic vs. Miami Heat, The Game
They did a number of things during the game to engage the crowd and our section actually won the Big Donut as we were louder that the section next to us (basically this meant that we won a box of donuts – which did not go far in a full section). The staff of the Arena was doing a lot of things such as this during the game and the crowd loved it.

The game itself started out slow and the Orlando Magic trailed for most of the game. In the 4th quarter though the Magic came alive and ended in a nail biter with the Magic and Heat tying at 95 with 16 seconds to go. The Magic came up with a three point shot that placed them in the lead.

Then with 8.6 seconds left the Orlando Magic blew their chances with Miami as they missed two free throws that would have won the game. Instead the Miami Heat was able to get a shot in allowing them to win the game 99 – 98.

After the game concluded the concourse was a mass of humanity and I came to find it very difficult to get outside of the arena without quite a bit of pushing and shoving on my part. This had a lot to do with the tight confines that I mentioned running into earlier on coming into the arena itself.

In leaving the arena and going back to our car, traffic was crazy and it took us 20 minutes to get out of the parking garage and another 10 minutes to get out of the congestion into a clear street which led us home. The one thing that was a blessing in disguise was the fact that we had brought a GPS with us which allowed us to find other ways around the traffic that we would not have had without it.

Overall it was a great game and great venue. There were a few pitfalls that I mentioned, but I would definitely go to the venue again. Thanks again to RazorGator for the great Miami Heat Tickets!

I can tell you how to perfectly execute a figure 4 leg lock, and how to reverse it as well. I was so excited when my son and I got the opportunity from EventChaser and RazorGator to attend the most recent WWE PPV event, Survivor Series at the Verizon Center here in D.C.!

Verizon Center Details
Verizon Center
601 F Street NW

The Verizon Center has hosted various NCAA events in both hockey and basketball many different times, All-Star games in 2007 and 2002 for the WNBA, and 2001for the NBA, the 2003 World Figure Skating Championships and the 1998 NHL Stanley Cup Finals.

The Verizon Center has also hosted concerts and family events ranging from U2 and Bon Jovi to Disney on Ice and the Wiggles. The Harlem Globetrotters and the Washington International Horse Show have tenured spots in the building.

The Verizon Center is surrounded by a large number of fast food and fine dining restaurants. Burger King, McDonald’s, Chipotle, and California Tortilla are just a few. As Chinatown is right off the Metro, there are a plethora of Chinese/Cantonese restaurants from which to choose. For more upscale dining, Tony Cheng’s Mongolian and Seafood Restaurant and Clyde’s of Gallery Place are right around the corner as well.

Directions to Verizon Center
The Verizon Center is extremely accessible via the Washington Metro System, which runs directly underneath the center. The Gallery Place/Chinatown stop, via the Red/Green/Yellow lines will deliver you practically right to the door. There is also an on-site parking garage on F St. for $25 per car. There are also almost 1000 other parking spaces located within blocks of the arena.

Refreshments and Souvenirs: At the Verizon Center and Outside
With a mall connected right to the Center, as well as busy city streets outside and restaurants inside, your choice for dining is limited only by your imagination. From sushi to ice-cream, burritos to fish, Chinese to beer, every possible craving can be satisfied.

There is a full bar located on the ground floor of the Verizon Center, as well as plenty of concession stands located throughout that will happily provide you with soda, hot dogs, popcorn, cotton candy, etc. The Verizon Center also offers two designated driver kiosks that will give you a FREE soda for agreeing to be a designated driver for the night.

There were plenty of souvenir stands located throughout the Verizon Center selling lost of goodies showing the wrestling superstars. The average shirt was $25, DX glow sticks ran $10, and hats were $20. They also sold replica title belts, but I didn’t catch the price of those.

The Main Event
All of our favorite wrestlers were slated on the card, so my son and I were excited all night. There were two big 10 man tag events, a 10 person tag- team Divas match, a one-on-one match, and two triple threat matches. Talk about a jam-packed night!

Batista power-bombed Rey Mysterio 3 times before that match was called by the ref as Mysterio couldn’t continue wrestling. Undertaker took care of Chris Jericho and the Big Show to retain his title, as did John Cena against both members of DX. The 10 man tag events were quite action packed, with Kofi Kingston winning his match, the Miz/Drew McIntyre/Sheamus winning their match and Mickie James/Melina winning their match.

All in all, it was a great night that we couldn’t have enjoyed without the great WWE Survivor Series Tickets from RazorGator and EventChaser! Thanks so much!

Aronoff Center for the Arts

Parking at Aronoff Center
Downtown Cincinnati can be quite a hectic place but it’s good to know where to part, especially during the holidays. Locals and tourists alike should check out the Olympic Garage on the side of the Aronoff Center. You pay eight dollars, hand your car over, and then pick it up at the end with your ticket. It’s simple and gets you there and back with ease.

White Christmas the Musical
Now that you know where to park, you can focus more of your time admiring the Aronoff Center and their upcoming shows, especially White Christmas. To be honest, I’ve never seen the film nor seen the musical live but it looked fun, so my mom and I headed out to see what all the fuss was about.

My mom and I were the only ones able to see the show this year but as we are now fans we’re already talking about making the rest of the family go with us next year. It’s a great show to make a family tradition out of, no matter where you live.

Sure, it’s called White Christmas, but I think you can enjoy it no matter what religion you celebrate as the overall meaning is about being there for those you love and enjoying the winter season.

One of the things that I’ll always remember from this show was the music. You have your soft ones, happy ones, sad ones. It’s a mix of great things and I can’t recommend checking out a show more. It’s great for young and old, boys and girls. It’s one of the few I know that could appeal to such large demographics.

And finally, this might not be my favorite scene but one that stood out, is for the number “Count Your Blessings.” It’s a beautiful song, but what I really loved was that the scene seemed so beautiful and real, I felt I was watching a movie on a screen instead of actors on a stage.

Overall, it was well worth seeing and I’d love to experience it again so be sure to do so yourself!
