WWE Survivor Series at Verizon Center Verizon Center, Washington D.C John Cena

As strange as it may be to believe, I LOVE wrestling! I’ve been watching it since the days of the Four Horsemen, Ricky “the Dragon” Steamboat, and the Ultimate Warrior. I can tell you how to perfectly execute a figure 4 leg lock, and how to reverse it as well. I was so excited when my son and I got the opportunity from EventChaser and RazorGator to attend the most recent WWE PPV event, Survivor Series at the Verizon Center here in D.C.!

Verizon Center Details
Verizon Center
601 F Street NW
Washington, D.C. 20004
(202) 628-3200

Debuting in December of 1997, the Verizon Center, managed by Washington Sports & Entertainment, LP, is home to the NBA’s Washington Wizards, the NHL’s Washington Capitals, the WNBA’s Washington Mystics, and the Georgetown Hoyas Men’s Basketball team. Located in the heart of Chinatown in downtown Washington, D.C., Verizon Center is only a few steps away from the White House and hosts more than 220 events and concerts each year.

The Verizon Center has hosted various NCAA events in both hockey and basketball many different times, All-Star games in 2007 and 2002 for the WNBA, and 2001for the NBA, the 2003 World Figure Skating Championships and the 1998 NHL Stanley Cup Finals.

The Verizon Center has also hosted concerts and family events ranging from U2 and Bon Jovi to Disney on Ice and the Wiggles. The Harlem Globetrotters and the Washington International Horse Show have tenured spots in the building.

Verizon Center on Google Maps

The Verizon Center is surrounded by a large number of fast food and fine dining restaurants. Burger King, McDonald’s, Chipotle, and California Tortilla are just a few. As Chinatown is right off the Metro, there are a plethora of Chinese/Cantonese restaurants from which to choose. For more upscale dining, Tony Cheng’s Mongolian and Seafood Restaurant and Clyde’s of Gallery Place are right around the corner as well.

Directions to Verizon Center
The Verizon Center is extremely accessible via the Washington Metro System, which runs directly underneath the center. The Gallery Place/Chinatown stop, via the Red/Green/Yellow lines will deliver you practically right to the door. There is also an on-site parking garage on F St. for $25 per car. There are also almost 1000 other parking spaces located within blocks of the arena.

Refreshments and Souvenirs: At the Verizon Center and Outside
With a mall connected right to the Center, as well as busy city streets outside and restaurants inside, your choice for dining is limited only by your imagination. From sushi to ice-cream, burritos to fish, Chinese to beer, every possible craving can be satisfied.

There is a full bar located on the ground floor of the Verizon Center, as well as plenty of concession stands located throughout that will happily provide you with soda, hot dogs, popcorn, cotton candy, etc. The Verizon Center also offers two designated driver kiosks that will give you a FREE soda for agreeing to be a designated driver for the night.

There were plenty of souvenir stands located throughout the Verizon Center selling lost of goodies showing the wrestling superstars. The average shirt was $25, DX glow sticks ran $10, and hats were $20. They also sold replica title belts, but I didn’t catch the price of those.

The Main Event
All of our favorite wrestlers were slated on the card, so my son and I were excited all night. There were two big 10 man tag events, a 10 person tag- team Divas match, a one-on-one match, and two triple threat matches. Talk about a jam-packed night!

Batista power-bombed Rey Mysterio 3 times before that match was called by the ref as Mysterio couldn’t continue wrestling. Undertaker took care of Chris Jericho and the Big Show to retain his title, as did John Cena against both members of DX. The 10 man tag events were quite action packed, with Kofi Kingston winning his match, the Miz/Drew McIntyre/Sheamus winning their match and Mickie James/Melina winning their match.

All in all, it was a great night that we couldn’t have enjoyed without the great WWE Survivor Series Tickets from RazorGator and EventChaser! Thanks so much!
