The AFC West in the National Football League is loaded with quality football teams. The Denver Broncos, Kansas City Chiefs and the Oakland Raiders all play in this division as well, and all three have won Super Bowl titles. The San Diego Chargers have been one of the elite teams in this division for several years now, and are aiming for another playoff appearance. You are well-advised to jump on Chargers tickets while they are still available!

Qualcomm Stadium
One of the classic stadiums in professional sports, Qualcomm Stadium has hosted the San Diego Chargers since 1967. Formerly known as San Diego Stadium from 1967-1980, then Jack Murphy Stadium from 1980-1997, Qualcomm is also the host to the San Diego State University Aztecs college football team, the Holiday Bowl and the Poinsettia Bowl.

Seating over 70,000 loyal Chargers fans, Qualcomm Stadium was built as a multi-purpose stadium and the construction utilized what is referred to as a “cookie-cutter” design. There have been talks for years, especially since the San Diego Padres moved away, that a new stadium would be built. This still has not occurred, and as a result the Chargers continue to battle their opponents at Qualcomm Stadium.

Where to hang out at before and after San Diego Chargers games
San Diego is bustling with activity, giving Chargers fans plenty of great options for restaurants and bars near Qualcomm Stadium. A great place if the whole family is along would be Filippi’s Pizza Grotto, while an all-adults crowd would have a great time over at Pal Joey’s.

The San Diego Chargers
The Bolts are currently sitting in 2nd place in the AFC West at 4-3, just two games behind the division leading Broncos. Chargers fans know well that San Diego has made a habit since Norv Turner took over as head coach in 2007 of making a second-half run. Need proof? The Chargers are the only team to start a season 0-4 and 4-8 and still make the playoffs. With the offense the Bolts have there is no reason not to expect the same thing in 2009, making purchase of tickets to all Chargers games a great investment.
