Texas Rangers First Rangers game!  MLB in Texas

I had the opportunity to attend the Texas Rangers vs. San Diego Padres game in Arlington on June 27, 2009. I hadn’t been to a Rangers game in years and being a Texan that’s a big “no no!” So, thanks to Eventchaser.com and Razorgator.com I was able to receive Texas Rangers tickets to a couple of AWESOME seats. And when I say “awesome” I mean 3 rows up from the field right behind 3rd base. Amazing, I felt like I was sitting right on the field.

The Rangers Ballpark is a treat all in itself. There is 2 restaurants, an awesome Hall of Fame museum featuring baseball legends from Nolan Ryan to Babe Ruth, an art gallery, souvenir shops, and even ballpark tours! If you’re there early you can enjoy the surroundings of the ballpark and never have to leave to any other place.

The new Rangers Ballpark in Arlington is located just 14 miles from the DFW International Airport and only a quarter mile from the old ballpark. The address is 1000 Ballpark Way, Arlington, Texas.

Parking at Rangers Ballpark
There are multiple parking lots surrounding the Ballpark. Parking was a little pricey for my budget, so I parked way out in the parking lot where it only cost $10. However, valet parking is available for $30 and you can register online for it.

The Arlington Entertainment District Trolley provides route-based trolley service to Rangers Ballpark for each home game of the 2009 season. Service begins 1 1/2 hours before the game start time with return service to hotels immediately following the game. You would need to check with your hotel about the trolley times.

Arlington, Texas Local Hot Spots, Restaurants and Attractions
You can actually SEE the famous amusement park Six Flags Over Texas from the venue and the fun waterpark Hurricane Harbor is right around the corner. In the same general area there is Alley Cats bowling, Humperdinks Bar & Grill, the new Dallas Cowboys Stadium and many, many more! There is also plenty of lodging in the immediate area surrounding the Ballpark.

Events at Rangers Ballpark
The night we attended it was free jersey night for the kids! My 5 year old was so excited to receive a new jersey. He felt like a Texas Ranger.

Children can also join the “Junior Rangers” which includes treats such as: a Jr. Rangers drawstring backpack, a Rangers cap, temporary tattoos, ticket vouchers for 8 select home games in the Lexus Club Terrace, invitations to “Members Only” Jr. Rangers events, VIP “Front of the Line” access every Sunday afternoon for “Run the Bases,” and much more.

Texas Rangers Tailgating
The Texas Rangers web site has a ton of information about tailgating. There is a charge if you want the ultimate tailgating experience.

The child sitting in front of us was chosen to participate in the “Steal the Base” race in which he had a limited amount of time to run from 3rd base to the outfield wall and back. He did it and actually was reward the THIRD BASE! Everyone in our section was also treated to free Dr. Peppers.

Unfortunately the Rangers lost to the Padres, but with the great seats and FREE JERSEY NIGHT, I have NO complaints. Thanks to RazorGator for the awesome MLB tickets.
