When Harry Met Sally. Comic Relief. 61. Whether doing stand-up, acting in movies or directing them, the career of Billy Crystal has been one of great success. In December of 2004 Billy Crystal’s one-act show 700 Sundays debuted on Broadway. A massive success, 700 Sundays returns for a limited engagement this coming fall, playing in six cities through December 20.
Is 700 Sundays coming to my town?
Check out the Pollstar link for the latest schedule for 700 Sundays. This show is only scheduled to tour six cities, so unless you are lucky enough to live in one of the six, a road trip is in store for you. Considering the massive popularity of 700 Sundays, this is an event when a road trip is a valid option. Billy Crystal has taken great satisfaction out of performing the show, but no one really knows how much longer he will revive the performance. Rather than hope Billy Crystal brings 700 Sundays to where you live someday, this may be one of those occasions to not take a chance hoping that “someday” comes around.
When will tickets for 700 Sundays go on sale?
Tickets for the Washington, D.C. and Philadelphia runs of 700 Sundays will go on sale exclusively to American Express cardholders on Wednesday, June 24, and will go on sale to the general public on Monday, July 13. Ticketmaster will be selling shows for the Washington, D.C and Philadelphia shows. On-sale information for the other cities has not been announced yet, so pay attention to listings in your area so you do not miss the initial on-sale.

Is this show really going to be that big of a deal?
Let us take a look at history. When the show premiered in December 2004, $10 million dollars worth of ticket sales had already sold before the first performance. 700 Sundays originally had a thirteen week run scheduled, but the immense popularity of the show caused several extensions to occur. 700 Sundays was an immediate profit for the Broadhurst Theater, the venue hosting the show, setting the house record for highest weekly gross that first week. The show continued to break its own record every week, with the week ending May 22, 2005, marking the highest grossing week for any non-musical production in Broadway history, taking in over $1 million in sales. Holy mackerel!
700 Sundays claimed the 2005 Tony Award for Special Theatrical Experience, making this show a gold mine in every respect for Billy Crystal. Folks, the Big Dog may not be a true theater connoisseur, but I feel very comfortable recommending this show.
Make those plans my friends, or others may beat you to it!
Take care,
The Big Dog
