What’s up people? Transmitting live and direct from sunny Los Angeles, I bring you the inside scoop on Universal City Walk’s Gibson Amphitheater. For those of you not familiar, Universal City Walk consists of cinemas, dining, shopping, concerts and more. It is located in the heart of the entertainment capital, Studio City. Thanks to RazorGator I had the pleasure of catching Bill Maher’s stand-up tour at this great venue. So what makes this venue so incredible you ask?

Gibson Amphitheater is the third largest theater in California seating up to 6,189 people. This is one of those venues where even the worst seat isn’t that bad at all. For those of you that might be sitting towards the back of the theater, huge projectors on either side of the stage will make you feel as if you’re standing in the pit right up front. The acoustics do not fall short of amazing either, as the biggest audiophiles will be satisfied. In the lobby you can find refreshments and food just in case you get hungry during a show. My suggestion though is to eat at one of the many restaurants outside on the city walk.
TIP: No cameras or camcorders are allowed inside of the venue.
Parking at Gibson Amphitheater
Universal City Walk has plenty of parking in which you must pay $10 for regular parking or $20 for preferred parking. Preferred parking is for those of you that like up front parking. For the rest of you that are frugal, you can try to find street parking on a side street off of Lankershim Blvd for free, but be prepared for a hike up a reasonably large hill (and yes, I do mean hike).
Get Your Grub On: Dining near Gibson Amphitheater
Bubba Gump Shrimp Co. - Perfect for the seafood lover. If you happen to be in town for a while, make sure you stop by the Santa Monica pier location during the day for a nice lunch overlooking the ocean. If not, the Universal City location will do.
Hard Rock Café Hollywood - Rock N’ Roll meets American food. If you have the urge for ribs or chicken wings, then this is the place you want to be. You can also check out some rock n’ roll memorabilia while you’re here.
Saddle Ranch Chop House - You can’t go wrong with the Chicken n’ Biscuits or the Classic Steak. Saddle Ranch is a Los Angeles staple that is a must visit. Be sure to try your hand at the mechanical bull (after a few drinks of course).

All in all, Gibson Amphitheatre is at the center of it all and you will have plenty to do before or after your show. The City Walk shuts down at 11pm on weekends but the bars stay open a little later so don’t worry. As I write this, I’m ready to go back and it’s only been 2 days. Don’t say I didn’t warn you…
