Location, Location, Location!!!
Ahhhhh, Augusta Georgia… Sweet Tea, Humidity and Golf! Not just golf but Masters Golf at the Augusta National Golf Club. The Augusta National Golf Club is located on the corner of Washington and Berckmans Roads and this year the tournament starts on April 6 th and goes through to the 12 th. The Masters is one of professional golf’s top events at one of the most lushly landscaped courses in golf. Take the luxurious course, elite athletes and the high-end attendees, and it’s no wonder why there is a waiting list 3 miles long to see the grandest stage in golf!
Parking
Free parking is available on the grounds on a first come, first serve basis during the practice rounds. Free parking is provided for patrons with proper credentials during the tournament days. When these lots are full alternate parking may be available at sites on Washington and Berckmans Roads. Gates open at 8:00 am each day and close at about 6:30 pm on the practice dates and 30 minutes after play on the tournament dates. Parking for any event is always hectic and crazy so early departure is highly recommended. For all other information on parking, autographs and policies you can visit the Masters website.
Take in a Show…
So if the practice and competitive rounds of the Masters aren’t enough for you than try to get in on Wednesday’s Par 3 contest. The Par 3 contest is a Masters tradition consisting of tournament participants, non-competing past champions and invitees that compete on a nine hole course played over DeSoto Springs Pond and Ike’s Pond. The contest was born in 1960 and has since aged gracefully with 61 holes-in-one, a record 5 in 2002.
Where to Crash
After a great day of golf, cocktails and the muggy Georgia heat, anyone could use a soft place to lay their head. As always, it is a great idea to book a hotel in advance. Here are some suggestions of places to hang your hat:
This hotel has the right accommodations at the right price. Some of the amenities include a complimentary breakfast, free high-speed internet and express check-in and check-out.
Just minutes from the course, this hotel also has a good bang for your buck. This Marriott features the new Marriott Bed with crisp linens and fluffier pillows (which are always a plus in my book), free high-speed internet access and cable T.V. with free HBO.
What’s for Dinner?
Bee’s Knees Tapas Restaurant & Lounge
This place is the Bomb!!!! From a ton of scrumptious tapas to yummy entrees and delectable desserts, this place is THE BEE’S KNEES! About 10 minutes from the course (if that), this place is a rainbow of cuisines from Thai to French, Cajun to Mediterranean and they also serve Vegan Entrees, talk about variety! You can also complement any of your tapas with a nip from their extensive drink menu which includes beer, wine, spirits and sake.
I am a pizza Fa-reak! This joint has everything that a pizza-lover craves and then something for everyone else. With every topping known to man and a kaleidoscope of cheeses and sauces, it gets as interesting as it does scrumptious. Pizza, Calzones, Hoagies, Salads and Munchies; this place is food-heaven…take a slice!
I hope this helps with a great stay in Augusta, stay safe and have fun!
